Richard Scott

Richard is an emerging Gold Coast-based printmaker, illustrator, and sculptor.

Heavily influenced by classical Gold Coast signage and shopfronts, Richard is currently compiling a self-screen-printed series of local snack bars, motels and massage parlours. An occasional sculptor, Richard won the 2024 “Kids choice” award at SWELL Sculpture festival (Currumbin) for his sculpture “Barker’s Beach Store” – a scaled down replica shopfront, reimagined as a children’s cubby house. In 2022, he recreated the giant Putt-Putt smiley golf ball (Mermaid) and plonked it on Currumbin beach. A children’s art tutor for the Gold Coast Art School (Southport), Richard has facilitated children's art workshops for Gold Coast organisations including HOTA (Kid's Takeover), SWELL Sculpture Festival, Mint Art House and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
